Domestic abuse concession form updated for partners and children on temporary visas
14 Oct 2026
If you are in the UK on a temporary visa as a partner or child and your relationship has broken down because of domestic abuse, there is support. GOV.UK updated the concession form on 8 October 2026. The change note says it was updated "to reflect changes to the Immigration Rules".
The first bullet in the details section now reads "you are in the UK on a temporary visa as a partner or child". To use the concession, GOV.UK says your relationship must have broken down because of domestic abuse, and you must need access to benefits to support yourself.
If you succeed, you get "permission to stay in the UK for 3 months" and can claim benefits. In that time you can apply for indefinite leave to remain as a victim of domestic violence or abuse. You can also apply for another type of permission to stay, or make arrangements to leave the UK.
If you think this applies to you, read the GOV.UK page and the form before you apply. Free support from a domestic abuse charity or an immigration adviser can also help.
