SELT test centre lists updated for visa and settlement applicants

If you need to prove your English language ability for a UK visa, settlement (ILR), or citizenship application, it is worth checking your test centre again. GOV.UK updated the list of approved Secure English Language Test (SELT) centres, both inside and outside the UK, on 28 August 2026.
Only results from a test taken at a centre on the current approved list count towards your application. GOV.UK is clear on this: "For your results to be accepted, your test must be on the list of approved English language tests [and] have been sat at an approved test location." If your usual centre has come off the list, a test sat there will not be accepted, so it is best to check before you book, not after.
This matters most if you are applying for a Skilled Worker, Health and Care Worker, Scale-up Worker, or family visa where English is a requirement, or if you are applying for ILR or British citizenship. Each of these routes needs proof of English from an approved test taken at an approved centre.
What to do: before you book a test or submit a SELT result with your application, check the current lists of approved centres in the UK and outside the UK on GOV.UK, and confirm your specific centre is still on there.
