Sponsor Appendix D record keeping guidance updated on 8 October 2026

14 Oct 2026

If you hold a sponsored work visa, your employer must follow the Home Office record keeping rules. GOV.UK updated Appendix D of the sponsor guidance on 8 October 2026. The new version is 10/26. This guidance is for employers, but sponsor compliance can affect the workers they sponsor.

The page lists three changes. Section 1.1 was "redrafted and updated to reflect the extension of the Right to Work Scheme to other working arrangements from 1 October 2026". Section 2.1 was updated to reflect "the removal of the resident labour consideration for the Religious Worker route from 29 October 2026".

Section 2.2(e) adds a new duty for Religious Worker sponsors. It applies to workers who applied on or after 29 October 2026 and qualify because they performed religious duties outside the UK for at least 6 months for a faith-based organisation. The sponsor "must retain a copy of the letter given to the worker by that organisation confirming details of this."

There is nothing for you to file as a worker. If you are on the Religious Worker route, you may be asked by your sponsor for supporting letters. If you are unsure what your employer needs from you, ask them directly.
