Sponsor login guide updated with one time passcode terms
09 Sep 2026
If you are on a Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa, your employer manages your sponsorship through UKVI's Sponsorship Management System (SMS), which uses multi-factor authentication (MFA) to log in. UKVI updated its guide to this system, known as SMS Manual 13, on 7 September 2026.
The guide explains "what multi-factor authentication (MFA) is, how it works and why it has been introduced," plus how sponsors access the system safely. This update itself only added two glossary entries. As the update note puts it: "Updated the glossary to add one time passcode and multi-factor authentication."
This is a small clarification for the people at your employer who administer sponsorship, not a change to any visa rule, fee, or deadline. There is nothing you need to do as a visa holder. If your employer's HR or immigration team manages your Certificate of Sponsorship, they may want to glance at the updated glossary to keep their login process compliant.
