Sponsor login manual updated with date of birth change instructions
03 Oct 2026
If you're on a Skilled Worker, Health and Care Worker, or Scale-up Worker visa, your employer manages your sponsorship record through the Sponsorship Management System (SMS), the portal sponsors use to log in and keep your details up to date. GOV.UK updated the manual that explains SMS login and multi-factor authentication on 2 October 2026.
The change itself is narrow. The published change note says the update gives "updated instructions for completing the form for date of birth changes only, on page 42 of the manual." In other words, this is not a new rule or a new security step, it's clearer guidance for sponsors on how to correct a date of birth on SMS if it was recorded incorrectly.
This isn't something you can do yourself on GOV.UK, it's handled by your employer's HR or sponsor team inside SMS. But if you've noticed that your date of birth is wrong on sponsorship paperwork or your Certificate of Sponsorship, it's reasonable to ask your employer's sponsor team whether they've used the updated page 42 instructions to fix it.
