Sponsor register updated for Skilled Worker and Temporary Worker visas
30 Sep 2026
If you're on a Skilled Worker visa, or you're waiting on a job offer that needs sponsorship, this is worth two minutes of your time. The Home Office has just updated its Register of Licensed Sponsors for Workers, showing a "Last updated" date of 29 September 2026 on GOV.UK, with the change note simply reading "Register updated."
The register lists every organisation licensed to sponsor Worker and Temporary Worker visas, including the category of worker they can sponsor and their current sponsorship rating. This matters because your visa depends on your sponsor holding a valid licence at the right rating. If your employer's licence has been downgraded, suspended, or revoked, it can affect your ability to work, extend your visa, or switch employer.
What to do: download the latest register (it's published as a CSV file) and search for your employer's name. Confirm they still appear, and check their rating is still valid for your role. If you can't find them, or their status has changed, speak to your employer's HR or immigration team straight away rather than waiting for a renewal deadline to find out.
This is a routine data refresh rather than a change to the rules themselves, but sponsor status can change between updates, so it's worth checking again if you haven't looked recently.
