UKVI stops issuing visa vignette stickers from 1 July 2026

02 Jul 2026

If you have recently been granted a UK visa, you will not receive a vignette sticker in your passport. According to the updated GOV.UK eVisa guidance, "UKVI stopped issuing visa vignette (stickers) to successful new applicants on 1 July 2026."

Your immigration status now exists as an eVisa only. Before you travel to the UK, you must sign in to your UKVI account to view your eVisa and check your permission to enter. The GOV.UK guidance states clearly: "Before you travel to the UK, you will need to sign in to your UKVI account to view your eVisa and check your permission."

At the border, your eVisa is accepted in place of a physical document. The guidance notes that it will be "quicker and easier to prove your status at the UK border, and share your status with third parties like employers and landlords."

If you do not yet have a UKVI account, set one up before your next trip. You will need it to access your eVisa and to share proof of status with employers, landlords, or airlines. Search for "UKVI account" on GOV.UK to reach the account creation service.
