If you're on a Skilled Worker, Health and Care Worker, Scale-up Worker, or any other Worker or Temporary Worker route, this affects you. GOV.UK updated its register of licensed sponsors on 15 September 2026. The page itself shows "Last Updated: 15 September 2026" with the change note simply saying "Register updated".
This register lists every organisation currently licensed to sponsor Worker and Temporary Worker visas, including the category of worker they can sponsor and their sponsorship rating. It's the official way to confirm that a job offer, a Certificate of Sponsorship, or a change of employer is actually backed by a valid, A-rated licence.
If you're relying on a job offer, about to switch employer, or waiting on a new Certificate of Sponsorship, it's worth checking the register again now that it's been refreshed. A sponsor losing its licence, or having its rating downgraded, can put your visa application or ongoing permission at risk even if nothing on your end has changed.
The update itself doesn't announce a specific new rule or deadline, just a refreshed snapshot of who currently holds a licence. But if your employer isn't on the current list, or their entry looks different from what you expected, that's worth following up on straight away.
