If you're on a Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa, or you're about to accept a job offer that depends on sponsorship, this affects you. GOV.UK updated the Register of Licensed Sponsors: Workers on 21 September 2026, with the change note simply saying "Updated register of licensed sponsors."
The register lists every organisation currently authorised to sponsor Worker and Temporary Worker route visas, along with the category of worker they're licensed to sponsor and their sponsorship rating. It's published as a downloadable CSV file and is updated on most business days, so a company that was licensed last month isn't guaranteed to still be on the list today.
If you're relying on a job offer for a visa application, or you're already sponsored and want peace of mind, check your employer's name against the current register before you apply or renew. Losing sponsor status partway through your visa can affect your right to work and your path to settlement, so it's worth a quick check rather than assuming nothing has changed.
