From 8 April 2026, adult children of BNO status holders born on or after 1 July 1979 can apply for the BNO visa independently. Around 26,000 people are newly eligible.

The UK government confirmed that BNO visa holders do not need to meet the higher B2 English standard for settlement. The B1 requirement stays for the BNO route.
